Malta is full of beautiful views and buildingsRelatively speaking, Malta is a very small island in the Mediterranean. It is possible to circle it in a day by car which makes it very convenient as a holiday destination. As the Maltese say ' nowhere in Malta is too far away'.

Most tourists taking package tours tend to end up in the north east of the island. Ex-pats tend to head for the south of the island, the real Malta, to experience living among Maltese people. It's also cheaper there.

As a tourist, you will probably want to visit some of Malta's towns and the capital Valletta - and indeed you would be missing something special if you did not at least include Valletta and the treasure that is medieval Mdina.

There is also a number of tourist attractions that inform the visitor about Malta, its history, culture and people. Once you're out and about in Malta you will come across numerous tour operators who will arrange day trips for you, or you can use the excellent and cheap local yellow buses.

Tourist Attractions:

  • The Limestone Heritage - multi-lingual audo visual presentation about limestone in Malta and sweetly scented citrus gardens. Address: Mons. M. Azzopardi Street, Siggiewi. Perhaps combine with a trip to the Neolithic Temples slightly further south or a paddle on the local rocky beach.
  •  Popeye Village - a fun park for the family around the set of the Village produced for the film Popeye back in 1980. This includes boat trips, water fun, a beach lido, water trampolines and more. It is located at Anchor Bay, opposite Mellieha except on the north west side of the island. Bus 441 runs from Mellieha to Popeye Village every 2 hours  in the winter and every hour in the summer between 10:00 and 16:00
